  • Saturday, Aug 8 - Mattoon Deanery Council of Catholic Women meeting and luncheon at St. Thomas. Registration from 7:45-8:30 a.m. Mass at 8:30 a.m. Lunch, meeting, and drawings to follow. See flier below for more information.
  • Sunday, Aug 9, After 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Thomas - Fr. Pawel meeting with ALL Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors to review procedures and go over any changes.
  • Sunday, Aug 9 - Buddy Night and 8th graders only and Parent Meeting and Playground Supervisors Meeting. Watch for email.
  • Tuesday, Aug 11 - First Day of School at St. Thomas!!
  • Saturday, Aug 15, following 5:30 p.m. Mass - St. Mary's will celebrate the feast day of St. Mary of the Assumption Church with fellowship and a meal in the parish center. All are welcome!
  • Thursday, Sep 3 & Friday, Sep 4 (8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) and Saturday, Sep 5 (8:00-11:00 a.m.) - St. Thomas Gigantic Garage Sale in the Parish Center. Drop off donations Monday, Aug 31 & Tues, Sep 1 (8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) Watch the school website (stthomassaints.com) for more information.
  • Sunday, Sep 6 - St. Mary's 189th Annual Church Picnic. Food, games, Basket Stand, Cake Stand, raffles, live music, ice cream from Homewood Grill, and fun for the entire family.
  • Thursday, Sep 24 - Bus is now full! Beatification of Archbishop Fulton Sheen at The Dome in St. Louis. Bus leaves Effingham Event Center at 8:00 a.m. and returns at 7:30 p.m. 
  • Sunday, Oct 4, 8:45 a.m. - St. Thomas pre-baptismal class in the choir area. Call the parish office (618/783-8741) to register or schedule an appointment.
  • Sunday, Oct 11 - St. Thomas Annual Harvest Picnic. Raffle: Grand Prize -  Side by Side or $15,000 cash; Second Prize - $1,000; Third Prize - $500. More details to come!
